AI Summit 2026 LIVE updates Day 2: Child safety in the age of artificial intelligence took centre stage at a key session during the AI Impact Summit, where platform accountability and user protection were key themes.

Responding to a question on how Snapchat ensures child safety, Uthara Ganesh from Snapchat said the platform is designed differently from “town square” style social media platforms.

“Some platforms are ‘town square’… A Snapchat is a one-to-one chat platform, it minimises the interaction. Minimising contacts from the strangers,” she said.

She explained that privacy-focused features are built into the platform by default. “Privacy settings that say, the location is turned by default. Idea of disappearing messages, users to control that users can keep the conversation in chat. We have parental control feature,” Uthara added.

Notably, Snapchat has an integrated AI chatbot in its system.
